WHOOPS! Make that "Fraternal Alliance" ahem ....

Six sided dice and little books
Adventure! Eat your fill!
And if you don't like it's looks
Then change it how you will

Supplements are optional
Canon? No way!
No Hivers in my universe, pal!
Maybe another day ....

Keep it simple ... and fast paced too
Don't bog it down with too many rules
if a question needs askin, the Ref "can do"

It's Classic Traveller!

Hi Frank,

I hear you talking at me.

I still remember the feeling of reading the mayday from the free trader beowulf on the box cover and the magic of those three little black and red books.

But I must admit I was never quite fond of all those six sided dice. I've been out of roleplaying for some time, but I think that D20 system has something going for it. I may just have to plonk down some hard earned $$$ and get a copt of the T20 book.

Don't get me wrong, I love classic Traveller but the new system seams to flow a little better.

When the adventurer's spirit again would shout
"Hey man ... I wanna play!"

Hey .. there ... online ... reprints I see -
they tease and taunt and beckon me
the price ain't bad but the shippin's not free

It's Classic Traveller!

After reviewing the criteria for a proper "english haiku" - http://www.haikai.info/articles/swede.definition.html

1. The haiku must be brief, that is, when read aloud it should be one breath-length long.

2. The haiku must express a sense of awe or transcendental insight.

3. The haiku must involve some aspect of nature other than human nature.

4. The haiku must possess sense images not generalizations.

5. The haiku must present an event as happening now, not in the past or in the future.

I believe I am now equipped to formulate the perfect Traveller haiku:

Aslan fresher down
emergency on deck three
"Tidy Cat" will work

I'm sorry. After reviewing my post to see what elicited your response, I can see how I came off "high-handed". Twasn't my intent, I assure you (since I enjoyed yours). It was a rather lame attempt on my part in portraying myself as a novice who had to look up the proper method to write the "perfect" Traveller haiku (it obviously isn't).

Again, apologies. :(

Also, a classic haiku is 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables.

possibilities endless;
Where do I go now?

Spiff,
Liam (the current evil Gm here, we "round robin" the helm, as it were), the players are using what suits them, style wise (Version of Traveller), I am attempting to make the game as generic as possible, but making conversions as needed with the new T-20 productr(I home brew meself MT-TNE-T20, btw).
The scenario is Golden era (by majority vote, one we are all familiar with), Spinward Marches.

Currently we have the following players/characters

graemlins/paragraph.gif CPT Black Light/ CPT Roger Winton of Rhylanor, of the (I)SS Ursula (a Q-ship), IMp Navy, FTR Pilot Sqdn ldr.

graemlins/paragraph.gif Frank Lee Scarlett/ Mr Scarlett, Security/Steward

graemlins/paragraph.gif myself/Micheal Francis Rourke, Steward/Purser/Security chief of ship, from Hefry/regina

graemlins/paragraph.gif Bryan Gibson/ Susan "Sushi" Cray, Chief Engineer (from Terra)

graemlins/paragraph.gif Maspy/WEAPS-LTCDR Felix Markov (from Quar-chronor)

graemlins/paragraph.gif Ellros/ SB pilot Lt. Hawkins (from district 268), Marine pilot

*** Erin A Kinser/ XO-CDR Eakheia (Aslani, Imp Navy), cameo appearances(her schedule permitting), from an Imperial Space faring Aslan merchanter clan.

graemlins/paragraph.gif Chron/FLT officer-LCDR Alexander James

graemlins/paragraph.gif Shane Mclean/Ship's medical-DR Hartley james, Tremous Dex.

With the EaK's schedule, the XO maybe relegated fer the time being to NPC status, and cameo appearances. So I see no reason why you cannot "join in".
We are on a two week hiatus(monday evenings), till DEC 23rd, 2002.

I can be reached at liamdevlin33@hotmail.com for details.

We'd love to have ye Far Trader (RV sez we start too frakkin late fer him, but most of us are US (Shane is UK, in Germany).

The haiku's were something Frank started, and I ran with, as a sorta "twin-image glimpse" at each each Player Character (based on events in game/ past histories).

Frank was thrilled that we started this game (he's landlocked in Deep texas far from gamers near Lubbock), he naturally burst into poetry. Such is the power of Traveller upon his gentle soul..or somethin like that! :D ;)
